Idolator reports (via NME):
Midway through the set stage [at Reading] cameras panned the crowd, which included a scantily clad young woman, about whom Corgan commented "There's something about a girl who's willing to take her top off so quickly.""American girls are sluts too," he added. "See - isn't it great to be alternative - You can say all those things."
Oh Billy! You know, after three days of Lollapalooza, I had *had it* with the drunken barefoot floozies in their sundresses, but regardless, I don't think it's right for him to be maligning that girl from onstage, nor for him to classify every female in the United States as "a slut." If he's had a lot of experience with "sluts" in his life, he should be asking himself where HIS pants were at the time. I just have no patience for that double standard/virgin-whore complex bullshit.
Some people are saying his comments were misogynistic...I just see him as overly bitter.
And I still haven't bought that fucker's latest album.

It frustrates and saddens me to see Billy, one of the most beloved musicians of my high school days, turn into such a self-important douchebag. No wonder D'arcy and James wanted no part of this "reunion".
What....Billy Corgan released a new album.... You mean he's actually still alive?
STOP THE PRESSES!
(no, seriously, I knew about the new album.)
I suppose it doesn't help your perspective either when you currently live with The Biggest Slut of All Time. Fo shame, Billy, you know she only wants you for the the songs you're writing for her next album....why you let her play you like that?
I had no idea that he was with Courtney Love until Persephone's comment prompted me to look him up. They deserve each other.
Oh Billy. What's the matter? Are you feeling a little bitter that you saw some half dressed, perky breasted, festival floozie but you know you have to go home to your new girlfriend who, because of all her recent weight loss, when naked now looks like a Shar-Pei ? There, there. Poor darling.
And I don't see how Billy Corgan gets off calling anyone a slut when there was that whole...ahem...Kurt Cobain thing.
I don't think the furor should be over what he said (which I think was a lame attempt to be ironic and holier than thou).
I think the furor should be over why somebody would be tempted to take their top off to flash Frankencorg in the first place.
True, it's odd how some people find him attractive (I don't get it myself).
Course that leads me to recall a strange, yet interesting discussion on the NIN blog today. People were trying to imply that each band member only attracts a certain kind of girl. Trent won with the biggest number of "fluffy" fans.
B.C., you bring up an excellent point. Who is flashing Billy Corgan?
Although I must confess to finding him rather alluring in the days when he had hair. Oh, and the silver pants were pretty hot too.
Persephone, do I even want to know what "fluffy" means in this context?
Dr. Evil says what?
When he gets over himself I might give his album a listen. Stop believing the hype and come back to reality. I'm sure if that gal had less beer in her, you wouldn't have even gotten a smile out of her. Let alone a free titty flash. Be thankful anyones still even listening to you jabber on.
God, speaking of people who have to interject themselves in everyone's business....
One of the amusing aspects of that sad saga is how Courtney Love got herself randomly involved.
I agree, Maise. I also had to laugh at the fact Woody Harrelson of all people tried to arrange a drug intervention.
If *Woody Harrelson* were ever telling me that I was taking drugs too much, then...that would pretty much be rock bottom for me.
