Put Some Pants on Young Lady

I'm certainly not a person anyone would describe as fashionable and I don't really keep up on the current trends so can someone clue me in as to when it became okay to wear control top pantyhose with bikini cut bottoms?

Lady Gaga, of "Christina Aguilera stole my look" fame and singer of the catchy pop song "Just Dance", seems to think this is just fine. She's donned the look once already at a New Year's Eve bash she played in New York City earlier this month. I was willing to forgive her since it was evident that she started out the night with a skirt on (although also somewhat ill advised style-wise, IMO) and it was New Year's so alcohol could partially be to blame...

...or so I thought. But then over this past weekend Miss Gaga was snapped wearing another control top ensemble. This time for a music video shoot according to Perez Hilton.

I don't mean to hate because she seems to be a lovely girl but why, why, why? She's too thin to be "doing it for the big girls" and she seems to have every other pop tart image thing going for her: young, cute, platinum blonde hair, sequined underpants, Louboutin shoes (which I do hear are stylish amongst the stars). Is this just a ploy to throw Christina off her tailored trail?

I realize our readers here at Places Parallel may not follow or care about such things but pop music is my guilty pleasure. But never Katie Perry. "I Kissed A Girl"? How very 1995.

It would be nice if she took a fashion clue from Helen Mirren in The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.

Ugh, Katy Perry is, like, everything that's wrong in music today. The very concept of the song "I Kissed a Girl" is, like, everything that's wrong with sex these days. (not the kissing the girl part, just the lipstick lesbianism for the sake of putting oneself on display/impressing stupid boys.) And the worst part is? That "Hold and Cold" song is catchy, and I hate myself for even thinking of it as catchy.

I think she stole her look from Paul Stanley.

And it's obvious why she's wearing the control top nylons, so I won't even go there, except to say that you don't bring sand to the beach and those aren't bikini bottoms.

PS Thank god you brought this up, it was really starting to wear on my conscience.

Serious bummer.

At least we have the new KREATOR album to rock to.

Not a problem Nonny Mouse. I could see it was bothering you. And here's some proof that not only does [Trent_Read], but Lady Gaga reads too. No control tops to be found with that outfit. Places Parallel helps avert another fashion disaster.

Iris - I did not know how artistic and "fashionistic" you are. Katy Perry looks much better due to your gentle advice.

Kreator's Hordes of Chaos LOVE it! I heart Destroy What Destroys You!

Iris - quoting comedian Demetri Martin: don't you agree that glitter is the herpes of craft supplies? LMAO!

I don't know what I was talking about. My last comment was really gross.

It's a fashion gimmick designed to distract you from her craptastic tunes.
